Teaching and Learning Professional Development

Instructors are discipline experts who keep their knowledge current and application methods up to date through ongoing professional learning experiences in their respective subject areas.

Instructors are also post-secondary educators teaching adult learners. Instructors are always learning how to be better educators while enhancing their experiences and knowledge of core pedagogies and learning strategies.

There are a number of excellent conferences and workshops geared for post-secondary instructors to help them continue to refine their practice and expand their skill sets as educators.

Teach Anywhere lists learning opportunities for all NIC instructors that may be of interest and benefit to many. See: https://teachanywhere.opened.ca/nic-essentials/learning-opportunities/

Right here in BC are some excellent learning experiences through BCcampus and Educational Technology Users Group. Happening in Kelowna is the international ISSoTL Conference (International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning) for a couple of days in early November. Well worth the trip!

Many conferences are moving back to in-person formats allowing for engagement and networking opportunities.
