Tuesday, April 29, 2025 – New Instructor Orientation Session
- Time: 9:00 – 11:45 am
- Format: Virtual via Teams
- Who: For instructors recently hired and teaching Spring/Summer/Intersession
- About: This session covers four key areas: engaging students, fostering belonging, aligning learning outcomes, and effective assessment. Participants will explore first-day strategies, student development, and feedback practices, gaining practical tools to create impactful learning experiences.

Tuesday, August 26, 2025 – New Instructor Orientation Session
- Time: 8:30 am – 12:30 pm
- Format: In-person (Comox Valley Trades Training Centre – Room 125 and Online via Teams)
- Includes: Breakfast: 8:30 am
- Who: For instructors recently hired and teaching Fall 2025 or Winter 2026
- About: The orientation day focuses on four key teaching areas: engaging students, fostering belonging, creating aligned, high-quality learning, and providing effective assessment and feedback. Activities include modeling first-day engagement strategies, such as icebreakers, and exploring student development using the Perry Scheme to foster belonging. Participants will learn to align learning outcomes, teaching methods, and assessments while understanding the importance of feedback in driving student success. Practical takeaways include resources for first-day activities, strategies to support diverse learners, alignment techniques for course design, and principles of effective feedback. The goal is to equip faculty with actionable tools to create engaging and impactful learning experiences.
